Importantconsiderationswhenchoosingasuitablelocationforyourproduct.
Thisproductissuitableformountingaboveorbelowdeck

Theproductshouldbemountedwhereitwillbe:
•protectedfromphysicaldamageandexcessivevibration.
•wellventilatedandawayfromheatsources.
•awayfromanypotentialignitionsourcesuchasanengineroom,nearfueltanksoragaslocker.
Whenchoosingalocationfortheproduct,considerthefollowingpointstoensurereliableand
trouble-freeoperation:
•Access—theremustbesufficientspacetoenablecableconnectionstotheproduct,avoiding
tightbendsinthecable.
•Diagnostics—theproductmustbemountedinalocationwherethediagnosticsLEDiseasily
visible.

•Electricalinterference—theproductshouldbemountedfarenoughawayfromanyequipment
thatmaycauseinterferencesuchasmotors,generatorsandradiotransmitters/receivers.
•Magneticcompass—refertothe
Compasssafedistance
sectioninthisdocumentforadviceon
maintainingasuitabledistancebetweenthisproductandanycompassesonyourvessel.
•Power—tokeepcablerunstoaminimum,theproductmustbelocatedascloseaspossibletothe
vessel’sdcpowersupply.
•Mountingsurface—ensuretheproductisadequatelysupportedonasecuresurface.Refertothe
weightinformationprovidedinthe
Technicalspecification
forthisproductandensurethatthe
intendedmountingsurfaceissuitableforbearingtheproductweight.DoNOTmountunitsorcut
holesinplaceswhichmaydamagethestructureofthevessel.
Cableroutingrequirements
Considerthefollowingbeforeinstallingthesystemcables:
•Y ouwillneedtoattachpower,transducerandnetworkcablestotheunit.
•Thetransducercableshouldonlybeextendedwherethesonarmodulecannotbeinstalledclose
enoughtothetransducertoallowadirectconnection.
•Allcablesshouldbeadequatelysecured,protectedfromphysicaldamage,andprotectedfrom
exposuretoheat.
•Avoidsharpbendsincables.
•Useawatertightfeed-throughwhereveracablepassesthroughanexposedbulkheador
deckhead.
•Securecablesinplaceusingtie-wrapsorlacingtwine.Coilanyextracableandtieitoutoftheway.
•DoNOTruncablesthroughbilgesordoorways,orclosetomovingorhotobjects.
•DoNOTruncablesneartoenginesorfluorescentlights.
Alwaysroutedatacablesasfarawayaspossiblefrom:
•otherequipmentandcables,
•highcurrentcarryingacanddcpowerlines,
•antennas.
