2 ST60+ Compass Instrument Owner’s Handbook
Displayed information
The ST60+ Compass instrument has a pointer and a digital display.
• In unlocked mode, the pointer is set to zero. In locked mode, the pointer shows
the course error (i.e. the difference between the current heading and the
locked course), up to a maximum ±30º deviation.
• The digital display function depends on operating mode. It can show:
• True/Magnetic Course Heading, or
• Locked Heading, or
• Course Over Ground (COG), or
• Average Heading.
Displayed information is either
TRUE or MAG(netic) as indicated by a black
square marker on the digital display, adjacent to the corresponding legend.
Note:
The
TRUE
and
MAG
indicators flash for 8 seconds after power is switched on.
This is a function of the remote control system and can be ignored if remote control is not
being used.
Use with Sea Talk autopilot
If the ST60+ Compass instrument forms part of a system which includes a Sea Talk
autopilot operating in Auto, Vane or Track mode, the ST60+ Compass instrument
operates in Auto mode (see below).
