5.3 Alarms
5.3.1 Diagnostics alarms
A diagnostics alarm is output for each diagnostics event. On the I/O device
DI 16x24VDC M12-L 8xM12 the LED ER/MS flashes red. You can read out the diagnostics
alarms in the diagnostics buffer of the CPU, for example. You can evaluate the error codes
with the user program.

Encoder faulty
Replace the encoder.
Load resistance too high
Reduce the load resistance.
Impedance of encoder circuitry is too high
Use a different encoder type or modify
the wiring. For example, use cables with a
larger cross-section.
Interruption of cable between the I/O
device and sensor.
Establish the connection.
Channel not connected (open)
• Disable diagnostics
• Connect a resistor of 25 kΩ to 45 kΩ
to the encoder contacts.
Parameter error

Correct the parameter assignment.
Hardware interrupt

• Change the interrupt handling on the
CPU. Reassign the parameters to the
I/O device, if necessary.
• The error persists until the I/O device is
assigned new parameters.
