Burnishing the Electric
PTO Clutch
1. Select a safe area to operate the mower deck. With the
drive in neutral, the PTO switch disengaged, and an
operator in the seat, start the tractor engine. Run the
engine at full throttle.
2. Engage the PTO switch and run the deck for fifteen sec-
onds. Disengage the PTO switch and wait for the mower
drive belt to stop.
3. Repeat Step 2 above ten times, and then re-check the
mower blade stopping time. (Stopping time must be five
seconds or less
.)
Purging the
Transmission
If transmission is jerky or noisy perform the following proce-
dure.
Air may become trapped in the inlet hydraulic filter or closed
loop passages of the hydro transaxle during assembly or
shipment of the rider.
The following procedure should be preformed with the drive
wheels off the ground, then repeated under normal operat-
ing conditions.
1. Check that the transmission oil level is correct. See
“Check Transmission Level” in this section.
2. Raise the rear wheels off the ground. With the transmis-
sion release lever (A, Figure 20) in push position and the
engine running at idle speed, slowly move the ground
speed lever in both forward and reverse directions 5 to 6
times.
3. Turn engine off.
4. Lower rider to the ground. With the transmission release
lever (A, Figure 20) out (drive position) and the engine
running at idle speed, slowly move the ground speed
lever in both forward and reverse directions 5 to 6 times.
5. Check transmission oil level is correct. Oil level will drop
as air is purged from the unit.
6. Repeat Steps 2 through 5 until all air is purged from the
unit. When the transaxle moves at normal speed purg-
ing is complete.
