Performance verification
Two types of Performance Verification procedures can be performed on this
product: Self Tests and Performance Tests. You may not need to perform all of
these proced
ures, depending on what you want to accomplish.
To quickly confirm that the AFG3000 Series Arbitrary Function Generators
are operati
ng properly, c omplete the Self Tests.
Advantage: These procedures require minimal time to perform, and
test the in
ternal hardware of the A FG3000 Series Arbitrary Function
Generators.
To furthe
r check functionality and proper calibration, first complete the Self
Tests; then complete the P erformance Tes t s.
Advanta
ges: These procedures add direct checking of warranted
specifications. These pr ocedures require suitable test equipment and mor e
time to execute. (See Table 19 on page 27.)
Self tests
There are two types of tests in this section that provide a quick way to confirm
basic functionality and proper adjustment:
Diagnostics
Calibration (you must perform this calibration before the performance tests.)
The
se procedures use internal diagnostics to verify that the instrument passes the
internal circuit tests, and calibration routines to check and adjust the instrument
internal calibration constants.
Diagnostics
Th
is procedure uses internal routines to verify that the instrument is operating
correctly.
Equipment required None
Prerequisites Power on the instrument and allow a
20 minute warm-up before doing this
procedure.
The instrument must be operating at an
ambient temperature between +0 °C and
+50 °C.
Do the following steps to run the internal routines that confirm basic functionality
and proper adjustment:
