Image is skewed on the paper
1. Is the paper in good condition and appropriate for a laser printer?
2. Is the printer printing within its environmental specifications?
3. Swap the tray that the affected print originates from.
4. Ensure that the paper feeder is properly installed. Inspect its paper pick roller.
Look for obstructions in the paper path.
5. Clean the intermediate and aligning rollers.
6. Replace the paper feeder.
No printing on edge of print
1. If one primary color is missing, replace that color’s toner cartridge.
2. Check that each toner cartridge moves forward smoothly toward the imaging
unit. Also inspect the two metal pads on the ends of the toner cartridge that the
toner cartridge selector cams push against.
3. Inspect the cartridge selector/eject unit to ensure that the cams are in good
condition. Replace the cartridge selector/eject unit.
4. Replace the imaging unit.
Image is not centered on the print when it should be
1. Is the paper in good condition and appropriate for a laser printer.
2. Is the printer printing within its environmental specifications?
3. Ensure the paper feeder is properly installed.
4. Is the top and left margin adjustments correct? Refer to the service tests
discussed in the topic “Printer self-diagnostics” on page 77.
5. Clean the intermediate and aligning rollers.
6. Replace the paper feeder.
7. Replace the engine control board.
8. Replace the laser scanner.
