Appendix F: Ethernet Setup
Testing Network Printers
To test that your oscilloscope is set t o print to a network printer, p ush
the Hard copy button. The printer shou ld print t he current screen to the
selected network printer. If the printer does not print the screen, refer
to the troubleshooting suggestions. (See page 185, Troubleshooting
Your Ethernet Connection.)
Ethernet Error Messages
The following error messages can occur when you are having network
problems. Read the text that fol lows to help r ectif y the problem.
Print Server Not Respon
ding.
This notifier displays when the oscilloscope
attempts to sen d d ata t o th e selected network printer but the n etwork
refuses the connection t o the network printer. This usually means that
the network printer
server is offline or the print server IP address is
incorrect.
If DNS is available
then you can verify the network print server data
by entering the printer name and either (but not both) the print server
name or the IP address. The DNS protocol will fill in the missing data if
the user-suppli
ed data is correct.
If DNS is not available, then contact your network administrator for
help.
Printer Not Responding. This notifier displays when the oscilloscope
attempts to send data to the selected network printer but the print server
is un able to f or w ard the data to the netwo rk printer. This usually m eans
that the network printer is offline or the printer name is incorrect.
Contact y our network administrator to obtain the correct printer queue
name.
DNS Server Not Responding. This notifier displays when either the
Domain i
nformation (Domain name or IP address) is not correct, or
the print server n ame or printer server IP address is not v alid ated (v ia
the Domain Name S erver).
