Horizontal Controls
Use the horizontal controls to adjust the time base, adjust the trigger
location, and to examine waveform details more closely.
Horizontal Position Control
When delay is off, the horizontal Position control mov es the trigger
point within the acquired waveforms. You can select full pretrigger, full
posttrigger, or any point in between.
Use a pretrig ger setting (trigger position near 100% of the record ) to
acquire waveforms leading up to a trigger event. For example, if you
can trigger on an e rr or condition, the waveforms leading up to the error
condition migh t tell you wh y the error occurred .
Use a posttrig ger setting (trigger position near 0% of the record) when
you want to acquire waveforms that follow a trigger ev e nt. Use a
mid-screen setting when you are i nter ested in information both befo re
and after the trigger event.
Refer to the Reference chapter f or information abou t how the horizontal
Position c
ontrol operates when the Delay and Zoom functions are
active. (See page 82, Delay But ton.) (See page 84, Zoom Button.)
The trigg
er p ositi on is marked wit h the lette r T at the top of the graticule
and also in the waveform record icon at the top of the screen.
