Note:Theplugshouldberemovedandchecked
whenevertheenginemalfunctions.
1.Cleantheareaaroundthesparkplugsothat
foreignmattercannotfallintothecylinderwhen
youremovethesparkplug.
2.Pullthewireofftheterminalofthesparkplug.
3.Removetheplugfromthecylinderhead.
4.Checktheconditionofthesideelectrode,center
electrode,andcenterelectrodeinsulatorto
ensurethatthereisnodamage(Figure88).
Note:Donotuseadamagedorwornspark
plug.Replaceitwithanewsparkplugofthe
speciedtype.
5.Settheairgapbetweenthecenterandsideof
theelectrodesat1mm(0.04inch)asshownin
Figure88.
6.Installthesparkplugintothecylinderhead,and
torquetheplugto20to28N∙m(15to21ft-lb).
7.Installthespark-plugwire.
8.Repeatsteps1through7fortheotherspark
plug.
