Installation and Wiring
Location
The Pivot thermostat is designed for installation in climate controlled spaces. Use the following
guidelines during installation:
• Place the unit in a central location with good air circulation.
• For proper temperature sensing, avoid exposing the unit to heat radiating from lamps, sunlight,
fireplaces, or any other radiant heat sources.
• Avoid locations close to windows, behind doors or alcoves with poor circulation, adjoining outside
walls, or doors leading to the outside.
• Select a location that prevents the unit from direct exposure to air currents from supply registers,
ceiling diffusers, or ceiling fans.
• Mount the unit on a section of interior wall that does not contain hot/cold water pipes or duct work.
Note: The Pivot thermostat utilizes a 4.3 inch color touch screen which generates heat that is vented out
of the top of the unit. If an air source is directed at or from above, heat from the screen can
become trapped within the unit causing inaccurate indoor temperature readings. Refer to the
illustration below.

Incorrect Location
Heat from screen may
be trapped within the
body of the unit by an
external top-down
airow source such
as a ceiling diuser
or ceiling fan.
The heat generated by
the onboard electronic
circuitry may cause inaccurate
indoor temperature readings if
heat is not allowed to escape due to
top-down airow.
