Operation and Troubleshooting
This section describes normal operations and troubleshooting for the power supply module.
Operational Features
A status LED indicates the status of the output voltage. When lit, it indicates that the power
supply has started properly and that the output voltage is above minimum level.
If power is lost, the output voltage will remain within the specifications outlined in Table 2, p. 8
for at least 50 ms.
The power supply module can tolerate a brief short circuit on the output and will auto-retry after
removal of the short. The average input current is approximately 2 A if the power supply module
output is shorted out.
Note: There are no serviceable components inside the power supply module. Replace upon
failure.
Troubleshooting
During normal operation, the status LED on the power supply module will illuminate green
continuously. The following table contains status LED activity indicators and suggested
troubleshooting solutions for non-normal status LED modes.
If the following troubleshooting recommendations reveal no problems, you may need to replace
the power supply module. Remove the power supply as instructed in “Repositioning or Removing
the Power Supply Module, p. 12.
Table 6. Status LED Activity
LED activity Indicates... Troubleshooting notes
LED is solid green Normal operation
After initially applying power, it may
take up to 10 seconds for the status
LED to illuminate solid green.
LED is not lit
Power is OFF or a possible overload has
shut down the device.
Verify that 24 Vac power wiring is
connected correctly.
Measure the input voltage to verify that
it is within the rated range (Figure 9,
p. 18).
Check for continuity to ensure that the
output wiring is not shorted.
Disconnect the load and verify correct
operation by measuring output voltage
(Figure 10, p. 18).
Take into consideration other loads that
are on the 24 Vac transformer.
LED is blinking
The device is operating at an
overcurrent situation. Too much
output voltage has dropped below
specifications.
Verify that the load is correctly sized for
the power supply module.
Measure the output voltage to verify
that it is within the rated range
(Figure 10, p. 18).
Ensure that other modules are not
switching on loads and causing the load
current to exceed the recommended
rating.
