Pre-Installation
This section provides the following pre-installation information:
• Mounting location
• Transformer considerations
• Recommended configurations
Mounting Location
Important: The power supply module must be mounted onto a DIN rail inside an enclosure that
meets all local electrical codes.
Observe the following:
• The enclosure must allow for the minimum 1.8 in. (4.6 cm) vent clearance around the top and
bottom of the power supply vents.
• The mounting location must meet the temperature and humidity specifications of the power
supply as outlined in
Table 3, p. 9.
• Do not mount the power supply module on a flat surface, such as on a floor or on top of a table.
Mount in an upright position with the front facing outward.
Transformer Considerations
Follow these guidelines when using transformers:
• Transformers must be class 2 rated.
• Non-class 2 transformers must be fused appropriately.
• Fully loaded power supply modules require 75 VA transformers.
The transformer size can be reduced for smaller loads on the power supply module; however,
transformers less than 20VA should not be used. Table 3 shows the recommended transformerVA
based on the PM014 output current.
