Front Wheel
FRONT
WHEEL
The front wheel
as
fitted to all models requires very little maintenance beyond
re-packing the hub with grease every 10,000 miles (15.000 kms.). The wheel bearings
are of the ball bearing type and therefore require no adjustment. The rim is 19" in
diameter (WM2-19) fitted with 3.25
::
19" tyre, and the hub consists of two parts,
the hub itself and the brake drum.
It
should be noted that the spokes have specially
angled heads, ensuring sturdy wheel construction. Four separate head shapes are
used and replacements should be the same as the originals. The brakes are internally
expand~ng to

7"(17.78 cms.) brake drum (Model ST, 6T
&
TRS) and an 8"(20.32crns.)
brake drum (TlGO and T110) and are ]mounted on an aluminium alloy (DTD.424)
anchor plate
as
a
complete unlt.
REMOVING THE FRONT WHEEL FROM THE FORKS
Brake Cable.
Remove the split pin from the pivot pin connecting the brake
operating lever and the cable.
Withdraw the pivot pin.
Anchor Plate Bolt.
Unscrew the nut and remove the bolt connecting the anchor
plate to the fork leg.
Spindle Nut.
Remove from the spindle.
Front Stand.
Lower the front stand by loosening the retaining nut at the rear of
the mudguard and pivot the stand downwards.
Spindle. Slacken rhe spindle pinch bolt on the left hand fork and drive the spindle
out, when the wheel can be withdrawn from the forks. Do not damage the spindle
threads.
DISMANTLING THE FRONT WHEEL
Brake Anchor Plate.
Hold the operating lever towards the
"ON"
position so
that the brake shoes do not bind on the drum and lift the anchor plate from the
brake drum.
Bearing Retaining Ring Nut.
The ring nut has a left hand thread.
Remove by
turning in a clockwise direction.
Spindle Sleeve and Collar.
Drive the sleeve and
collar out from the brake drum
side.
Wheel Bearing
L.H.
Drive the bearing out complete with dust cover, using a
4"
(9.5 mrn.) diameter bar inserted through the brake drum side bearing.
Remove
the bearing distance piece.

Wheel Bearing R.H. Drive this bearing out into the brake drum
