Installing the Engine
A

Tappet Adjustment. Adjust as described on page
36
and replace the four
inspection caps.
Carburetter. This unit can be fitted now, or after the engine has been installed in
the frame. Do not forget to replace the tufnol block on the TR5 and TI00 models.
Sparking Plugs. Replace and connect .H.T. leads.
Rear Engine Plates.
Loosely assemble the rear engine plates to the crankcase on
the rigid frame models.

The engine is now ready for installation into the frame.

INSTALLING
THE
ENGINE
(RIGID FRAME
MODELS)

ENGINE. When the engine
is
ready for installation, ensure thzt :he rear lower
i
stud is fitted in position with the nuu loosely assembled.
Check that.the footrest
spindle
is
positioning the distance piece between the rear engine plates. Place
a
i
box under the frame and lift the engine into position.
Ensure that the rezr lower
I
stud engages with the rear engine plates.
j
Front Engine Plates.
Tilt the engine back and swing the plates into pcsition.
I
P,e-fit all studs and nuts to both front and rear engine plates and attach the cover
I
plates on the ST and 6T models.
I
Dynamo. Replace to the crankcase and secure with the timing cover domed nut
and tighten the clip screw.
Torque Stays. Replace to engine bolts and secure with the nuts.
I
I
Torque Clip
(TR5).
Remove the relevant engine bolt and then pass
it
through
!
I
the clip back
to
the engine.
Securely tighten.
I
Oil
Pipes. Connect tt,e main oil pipes from oil tank to engine and the iocker
feed pipes to rocker spindles.

R.H.
Footrest.
Re-position the spindle and assemble the short u'lstance piece to
the
L.H.
side, which
tits
between the engine plate and inner primary case.
Primary Chaincase Inner.
Smear jointing compound around the crankcase
mating scri:ce and assemble to the crankcase and over the shafts.
Replace the
primary chaincase to rear chainguard screw.
