Corrective measures for the MP feed clutch motion error (J0509)
T OPIC :
Depending on variation of the MP feed clutch, in rare case, the inner parts of the MP feed clutch might be unevenly worn out
in a long period use and the MP feed clutch might idle. When idling, the MP feed roller does not rotate and it causes no
paper feed from the MP tray (JAM0509). Thus, the inner structure of the MP feed clutch is changed.

P ROCEDURES :
1) Detach the paper feed drive unit (No.1) from the main unit. Refer to “Disassembly and refit” in Service Manual for details.
2) Put the paper feed drive unit on the work space
such as Fig.1 (motor is located at left side of the
service person), and release four hooks.

Divide the unit up and down like being opened,
and replace the MP feed clutch (No.2). (Fig.2)
Note:
Don't move the lower divided unit facing the work
space to prevent the parts from falling after
divided.
Reattach the bushing at 4 parts inside the upper
divided unit if they fall.
Distinction between the old and new MP feed clutch
The color of the rating label affixed on the field core of the
MP feed clutch is changed from blue to light green.
