3 AIR SOURCE HEAT PUMP INSTALLATION
The Warmflow air source heat pumps require installation by a Warmflow or MCS approved
installer. The unit can be installed as part of a new system or retrofitted into an existing system,
however it is important that the system design is capable of facilitating the required flow rates
and can dissipate heat efficiently.
3.1 General
The appliance is to be located outdoors only. The unit should be installed on a suitable
mounting in order to ensure the evaporator sits at least 150mm above the ground. Flexible feet
are available separately from Warmflow in order to provide this gain in height. This should then
be installed on a smooth horizontal surface capable of supporting the weight of the unit together
with any accessories and other plant. The area in which the unit is installed must have good
ventilation and not be susceptible to strong gusts of wind. There should be no other heat
sources close to the installation area. The unit needs to have a drain or soakaway beneath or
close by the unit to get rid of the condensing water which accumulates beneath the evaporator.
In order to keep noise and vibration to a minimum, it is important that the unitās anti-vibrations
mountings are secured and in full contact with the base surface. The units are supplied with a
set of flexible hoses for the flow and return of the heating circuit. These should be installed to
further reduce the transmission of noise and vibration into the building structure.
