2.6 SYSTEM OVERVIEW
The DVS Fast Charging System provides all of the battery charging and equalizing
required for your application. It provides a constant current-constant voltage-constant
current (IEI) charge profile that precisely controls the charge rate, and optimally charges
your batteries by precisely adjusting the current in response to the batteries’ capacity,
temperature and age. Each DVS is divided into two cabinets, the upper cabinet, referred
to as the PowerStation cabinet and the lower cabinet, referred to as the Power Supply
cabinet.

The keypad and display on the front of each DVS provide the user interface to the
charger. The alphanumeric display panel constantly updates the charger and battery
status, and allows access into the programming menus through the keypad. Five status
LEDs on both channel A and channel B allow the user to determine from a distance when
(1) the charge is in progress (2) the charge is at 80% complete (3) the charge is complete
(4) the battery is equalizing or scheduled for equalization and (5) a fault has occurred.
The DVS works with small monitoring devices mounted on the batteries called the
battery monitor/identifier (BMID). The BMID enables the charger to automatically
adjust the charge to match the requirements of all of the batteries in your fleet without
needing to worry about matching batteries and chargers.
