IPv4Layer3Overview

TheZXR102900EprovidesafewIPv4layer-3functionsfortheremotecongurationand

management.T orealizetheremoteaccess,anIPportmustbeconguredontheswitch.

IftheIPportoftheremotecongurationhostandthatoftheswitcharenotinthesame

networksegment,itisalsonecessarytocongurethestaticroute.

Staticrouteisasimpleunicastrouteprotocol.Thenext-hopaddresstoadestination

networksegmentisspeciedbyuser,wherenexthopisalsocalledgateway.Staticroute

involvesdestinationaddress,destinationaddressmask,next-hopaddress,andegress

interface.Destinationaddressanddestinationaddressmaskdescribethedestination

networkinformation.Thenext-hopaddressandegressinterfacedescribethewaythat

switchforwardsdestinationpacket.

TheZXR102900EallowsaddinganddeletingthestaticARPtable.ARPtablerecords

mappingrelationshipbetweenIPaddressandMACaddressofeachnodeinsame

network.WhensendingIPpackets,switchrstcheckswhetherdestinationIPaddress

isinthesamenetworksegment.Ifyes,switchcheckswhetherthereisapeerendIP

addressandMACaddressmappingentryintheARPtable.

1.Ifyes,switchdirectlysendstheIPpacketstothisMACaddress.

2.IfMACaddresscorrespondingtopeerendIPaddresscannotbefoundinARPtable,

anARPRequestbroadcastpacketwillbesenttothenetworktoquerypeerendMAC

address.

tobeconguredonlywhentheconnectedhostcannotrespondtheARPRequest.
