5 Operating instructions
5.1 Initial start-up
Safety precautions
The operator must apply all relevant Safety precautions.
Outdoor/altitude operation
If the unit is installed outdoors or if the air inlet temperature can be below 0 ˚C/32 ˚F, precautions
must be taken. If this is the case, or if the unit is being operated at high altitudes, consult the
Atlas Copco Customer Center.
Moving/lifting
In order not to damage the frame, the unit must be moved either by a lift truck or by using lifting
equipment as described below.
When moving the unit with a lift truck, use the slots in the frame. Make sure that the forks
protrude from the other side of the frame. When moving the unit with a lifting device, insert
beams in the slots. Make sure that the beams cannot slide and that they protrude from the frame
equally. The chains must be held parallel to the bodywork by chain spreaders in order not to
damage the unit. The lifting equipment must be placed in such a way that the unit is lifted
perpendicularly. Lift gently and avoid twisting.
Preparation for initial start-up
1. Install the unit, refer to following sections:
• Electrical connections
• Installation proposals
• Dimension drawings
2. The motor is secured to the frame immobilizing the vibration dampers during transport.
