Cruise Control
Neverengagethe cruisecontrolleverwhiletravelingin reverse.
Tosetthe cruisecontrol:
1. Slowlypresstheupperportionofthedrive pedalwithyour right
footuntilthe desiredspeedisachieved.
2. Lightlypresstheparkingbrake/cruisecontrolleverdownwardand
holdit in thatposition.
3. Removeyourfootfromthedrivepedal.
4. Releasepressurefromthe parkingbrake/cruisecontrollever.
Aftercompletingstep3, thedrivepedalshouldremaininthe down
positionandthetractorwill maintainthe sameforwardspeed.If it
doesn't,thecruisecontrolis not engaged.Repeatsteps 1through4 to
engagethecruisecontrol.
Todisengagethecruisecontrol,lightlypressthe drivepedalor the
brakepedal.
NOTE:Cruisecontrolcannotbesetat thetractor'sfastestground
speed.If theoperatorshouldattemptto do so,thetractorwill automati-
callydecelerateto thefastestoptimalmowinggroundspeed.
Tochangethedirectionoftravelfromforwardtoreversewhencruise
controlisengaged,pressthe brakepedalto disengagethe cruise
controlandbringthetractorto a completestop.Thenslowlypressthe
reversepedalwiththe ballof yourfootto travelinreverse.
USING THE DECK LIFT LEVER
Toraisethe cuttingdeck,movethedecklift leverto the left,thenplace
itin the notchbestsuitedfor yourapplication.
OPERATING THE HEADLIGHTS
ThelampsareONwheneverthe ignitionkeyis rotatedout oftheSTOP
position.ThelampsturnOFFwhentheignitionkeyis movedtothe
STOPposition.
ENGAGING THE PTO
Engagingthe PTOtransferspowerto thecuttingdeckor other
(separatelyavailable)attachments.Toengagethe PTO:
1. MovetheThrottle/Chokecontrolleverto theFAST(rabbit)
position.
2. PullthePTO/BladeEngageknob backintotheengaged(ON)
position.SeeFigure9.
NOTE:Alwaysoperatethe tractorwiththeThrottle/Chokecontrollever
in theFAST(rabbit)positionforthemostefficientuseof the cutting
deckor other(separatelyavailable)attachments.

Tohelpavoidbladecontactora thrownobjectinjury,keepbystand-
ers,helpers,childrenand petsat least75feetfromthemachinewhile
it isin operation.Stopmachineif anyoneentersthe area.
Thefollowinginformationwill behelpfulwhenusingthe cuttingdeck
withyourtractor.
Planyourmowingpatterntoavoiddischargeof materialstoward
roads,sidewalks,bystandersandthelike.Also,avoiddischarging
materialagainstawall orobstructionwhichmaycausedischarged
materialtoricochetbacktowardtheoperator.
• Donotmowat highgroundspeed,especiallyif a mulchkitor
grasscollectoris installed.
• Donotcutthegrasstooshort.Shortgrassis pronetoweed
growthandyellowsquicklyindry weather.
• Alwaysoperatethetractorwiththe throttleleverinthe FAST
(rabbit)positionwhilemowing.
• Forbestresultsit is recommendedthatthefirst twolapsbecut
withthe dischargethrowntowardsthe center.Afterthe firsttwo
laps, reversethedirectionto throwthedischargeto theoutside
forthebalanceof cutting.Thiswill givea betterappearanceto the
lawn.
DoNOTattemptto mowheavybrushand weedsorextremelytall
grass.Yourtractorisdesignedto mowlawns,NOTclearbrush.
• Keepthebladessharpandreplacethebladeswhenworn.
