Slowdownbeforeturning.Operatethemachinesmoothly.Avoid
erraticoperationandexcessivespeed.
Disengageblade(s),setparkingbrake,stopengineandwaituntil
theblade(s)cometoa completestopbeforeremovinggrass
catcher,emptyinggrass,uncloggingchute,removinganygrassor
debris,or makinganyadjustments.
Neverleavea runningmachineunattended.Alwaysturnoff
blade(s),setparkingbrake,stopengineandremovekeybefore
dismounting.
Useextracare whenloadingorunloadingthe machineintoa
trailerortruck.Thismachineshouldnot bedrivenupor down
ramp(s),becausethe machinecouldtipover,causingserious
personalinjury.Themachinemustbe pushedmanuallyon
ramp(s)to loador unloadproperly.
Mufflerandenginebecomehotandcan causea burn.Donot
touch.
Checkoverheadclearancescarefullybeforedrivingunderlow
hangingtree branches,wires,dooropeningsetc.,wherethe
operatormaybestruckor pulledfromthe machine,whichcould
resultinseriousinjury.
Disengageallattachmentclutchesanddepressthebrakepedal
completelybeforeattemptingtostartengine.
Yourmachineisdesignedto cutnormalresidentialgrassofa
heightnomorethan 10".Do notattemptto mowthroughunusually
tall,dry grass(e.g.,pasture)orpilesof dry leaves.Drygrassor
leavesmaycontacttheengineexhaustand/or builduponthe
mowerdeckpresentinga potentialfire hazard.
Useonlyaccessoriesandattachmentsapprovedfor this machine
bythemachinemanufacturer.Read,understandandfollowall
instructionsprovidedwiththe approvedaccessoryor attachment.

SLOPE OPERATION
Slopesarea majorfactorrelatedto lossof controlandtip-over
accidentswhichcanresultinsevereinjuryor death.Allslopesrequire
extracaution.Ifyoucannotbackupthe slopeor if youfeel uneasyon
it, do notmowit.
Foryoursafety,usetheSlopeGuideincludedas partof this manual
to measureslopesbeforeoperatingthis machineona slopedor hilly
area.Iftheslopeisgreaterthan15degreesasshownonthe Slope
Guide,do notoperatethis machineonthatareaor seriousinjurycould
result.
Do:

Mowupanddownslopes,not across.Exerciseextremecaution
whenchangingdirectionon slopes.
Watchforholes,ruts,bumps,rocks,orotherhiddenobjects.
Uneventerraincouldoverturnthe machine.Tallgrasscan hide
obstacles.
Useslowspeed.Choosea lowenoughspeedsettingso that
youwillnothaveto stopor shiftwhileon the slope.Tiresmay
losetractionon slopeseventhoughthe brakesarefunctioning
properly.Alwayskeepmachinein gearwhengoingdownslopes
totakeadvantageof enginebrakingaction.
Followthe manufacturer'srecommendationsforwheelweights
or counterweightsto improvestability.Forrecommendations,call

Useextracarewithgrasscatchersor otherattachments.These
canchangethe stabilityofthe machine.
Keepallmovementonthe slopesslowandgradual.Donotmake
suddenchangesinspeedor direction.Rapidengagementor
brakingcouldcausethefrontofthemachinetolift andrapidlyflip
overbackwardswhichcouldcauseseriousinjury.
Avoidstartingorstoppingona slope.Iftireslosetraction,disen-
gagethe blade(s)andproceedslowlystraightdownthe slope.
DoNot:
Donotturnon slopesunlessnecessary;then,turnslowlyand
graduallydownhill,ifpossible.
Donotmowneardrop-offs,ditchesor embankments.The mower
couldsuddenlyturnoverifa wheelis overtheedgeof a cliff,
ditch,or ifan edgecavesin.
Donottry to stabilizethemachinebyputtingyourfooton the
ground.
Donotusea grasscatcheron steepslopes.
Donotmowon wetgrass.Reducedtractioncouldcausesliding.
Donotattempttocoastdownhill.Over-speedingmaycausethe
operatortolosecontrolof themachineresultingin seriousinjury
or death.
Donottowheavypull behindattachments(e.g.loadeddumpcart,
lawnroller,etc.)on slopesgreaterthan5 degrees.Whengoing
downhill,theextraweighttendstopushthe tractorandmay
causeyoutoloosecontrol(e.g.tractormayspeedup,brakingand
steeringabilityarereduced,attachmentmayjack-knifeandcause
tractortooverturn).
