Beforeservicing,repairing,or inspecting,alwaysdisengagePTO
(BladeEngageknob),setparkingbrake,stopengineand remove
topreventunintendedstarting.
Afuse is installedin yourtractor'swiringharnessto protectthe trac-
tor'selectricalsystemfromdamagecausedbyexcessiveamperage.
Ifthe electricalsystemdoesnotfunction,or yourtractor'senginewill
notcrank,firstchecktobecertainthatthe fusehasnot blown.It is
locatedunderthehood,mountedbehindthe topof thedashpanelon
thesupportbar.
Althoughmulti-viscosityoils(5W20,10W30,etc.)improvestarting
incold weather,theywill resultinincreasedoilconsumptionwhen
usedabove32°RCheckyourengineoil levelmorefrequentlyto avoid
possibleenginedamagefrom runninglowon oil.
Tochecktheengineoil,proceedas follows:
1. Ensurethatthetractoris on a levelsurface.
2. Cleantheoilfill areaofanydebris.
3. Removethedipstickandwipewitha cleancloth.
4. Insertandtightendipstick.
5. Removethedipstickandchecktheoil level.It shouldbeatthe
Fullmarkon thedipstick.SeeFigure19.
Alwaysusea replacementfusewiththesameamperagecapacityas
theblownfuse.
TIRES
Neverexceedthe maximuminflationpressureshownon the sidewall
ofthetire.
Refertothetire sidewallfor exacttiremanufacturer'srecommendedor
maximumpsi. Donot overinfiate.
Uneventire pressurecouldcausethecuttingdeckto mowunevenly.
CHANGING THE TRANSMISSION DRIVE
BELT
Severalcomponentsmustberemovedandspecialtoolsusedin order
tochangethe tractor'stransmissiondrivebelt.Seea Searsor other
qualifiedservicedealertohavethetransmissiondrivebelt replaced.
ENGINE MAINTENANCE
Beforeperformingany maintenanceor repairs,disengagePTO
(BladeEngageknob),setparkingbrake,stopengineand remove
topreventunintendedstarting.
Checking the Engine Oil
Onlyusehighqualitydetergentoil ratedwithAPIserviceclassification
SF,SG,SH,or SJ.Selecttheoil's SAEviscositygradeaccordingto
theexpectedoperatingtemperature.Followthechartbelow.
