SPEED CONTROL LEVER
Thespeedcontrollever,locatedontheleft sideofthe
tractor'sdashconsole,allowsyouto regulatethe ground
speedofthe lawntractor.Touse,depressthe clutch-
brakepedalandmovetheleverout of the parkingbrake
notchandforwardtoincreasethetractor'sgroundspeed.
Whenadesiredspeedhasbeenreached,releasethe
leverintoanappropriatenotchto maintainthatspeed.
Toslowthetractor'sgroundspeed,depressthe clutch-
brakepedalandmovethespeedcontrollever rearward
andreleaseit intoa notch.
PARKING BRAKE
Tosettheparkingbrake,fullydepresstheclutch-brake _._J
PARK
pedal.Movethespeedcontrolleverall thewaydownand BRAKE
intotheparkingbrakeposition.Releasetheclutch-brake
pedaltoallowthe parkingbraketo engage.
Toreleasetheparkingbrake,depresstheclutch-brakepedaland
movethespeedcontrolleveroutof the notchestothedesiredposition.
Releasethespeedcontrolleverandtheclutch-brakepedal.
NOTE:The parkingbrakemustbe setif theoperatorleavesthe seat
withtheenginerunningor theenginewill automaticallyshutoff.
THROTTLE/CHOKE CONTROL LEVER
Thethrottle/chokecontrolleverislocatedon therightsideof thetrac-
tor'sdashpanel.This levercontrolsthe speedofthe engineandwhen
pushedall thewayforward,thechokecontrolalso.Whensetin a given
position,thethrottlewillmaintaina uniformenginespeed.
iMPORTANT:Whenoperatingthe tractorwiththe cuttingdeck
engaged,thethrottle/chokecontrollevermustalwaysbein the FAST
(rabbit)position.
IGNITION SWITCH MODULE
Thekeyswitchmoduleisusedto
startand stoptheengine.Itis also
usedtoactivatethe ReverseCaution
Mode(bladesoperatewhileriding
in reverse).Insertkeyintothe key
switchmoduleandturnclockwiseto
theSTARTposition.Releasethe key
intothenormalmowingpositiononce
enginehasstarted.Theheadlights
willbeactivatedin theNormal(and
ReverseCaution)modes.
Tostoptheengine,turnthe ignitionkey
counterclockwiseto theSTOPposition.

IMPORTANT:Priorto operatingthe tractor,referto boththe"Safety
InterlockSystem"and"StartingTheEngine"laterinthissectionof this
manualfordetailedinstructionsregardingthe IgnitionSwitchModule
andoperatingthetractorinREVERSECAUTIONMODE.
Neverleavea runningmachineunattended.AlwaysdisengagePTO
(BladeEngageLever),moveshiftleverintoneutralposition,setpark-
ingbrake,stopengineandremovekeyto preventunintendedstarting.
SHIFT LEVER
Theshift leverislocatedontheleft
sideofthe fenderand hasthree
positions,FORWARD,NEUTRAL
and REVERSE.Theclutch-brake
pedalmustbedepressedandthe
tractormustnotbe inmotionwhen
themovingshift lever.
iMPORTANT:Neverforcethe
shiftlever.Doingsomayresultin
seriousdamagetothetractor's
transmission.
DECK LIFT LEVER
Foundonyourtractor'srightfender,thedeckliftleveris used
tochangethe heightof thecuttingdeck.To use,movethe
levertothe left, thenplacein thenotchbestsuitedfor your
application.
PTO (BLADE ENGAGE) LEVER
Foundonthetractor'srightfender,the PTO(bladeengage)
leveris usedtoengagepowertothe cuttingdeckorother
(separatelyavailable)attachments.Tooperate,movethe
leverall thewayforward.Movingtheleveralltheway
rearwardinto the PTOOFFpositiondisengagespowertothe
cuttingdeck/attachment.
NOTE:The PTO(bladeengage)levermustbe inthe
disengaged(PTOOFF)positionwhenstartingtheengine.
CUP HOLDER
Thetractor'scupholderis locatedon the fendertothe left of
theseat.
SEAT ADJUSTMENT KNOB
Theseatadjustmentknob is locatedonthebottomsideof theseat.
Usethisknobto adjustthe seatforwardor rearwardto a comfortable
operatingpositionbylooseningthe knob,positioningthe seatto the
desiredpreference,thenretighteningtheknob.
CLUTCH-BRAKE PEDAL
Theclutch-brakepedalis locatedonthe left sideofthe lawntractor,
alongtherunningboard.Depressthe clutch-brakepedalpartway
downwhenslowingthetractorbychangingspeeds(Referto Speed
ControlLever).Depressthepedalall thewaydownto engagethe disc
brakeandbringthetractortoa completestop.
NOTE:The pedalmustbe depressedto startthe engine.Referto
SafetyInterlockSwitcheslaterin thissectionof thismanual.
