Anyfueloroil spilledonthe machineshouldbewipedoff promptly.Do
NOTallowdebristoaccumulatearoundthecoolingfinsof the engine
oron anyotherpartof the machine.
IMPORTANT: Theuseof a pressurewasherto cleanyourtractoris
NOTrecommended.It maycausedamagetoelectricalcomponents,
spindles,pulleys,bearingsortheengine.
A screwplugcanbefoundon yourtractor'sdecksurfaceasseenin
Fig. 13.Thisplugcanbereplacedwitha waterportto be usedas part
ofa separately-availabledeckwashsystem.
Thedeckwashsystemisusedto rinsegrassclippingsfromthe deck's
undersideandpreventthe buildupofcorrosivechemicals.

Leveling the Deck
NOTE: Checkthetractor'stirepressurebeforeperforminganydeck
levelingadjustments.RefertoTiresinthe Serviceand Maintenance
sectionofthis manualformoreinformationregardingtirepressure.
Front To Rear
Thefrontofthe cuttingdeckissupportedby a stabilizerbarthatcan
beadjustedtolevelthe deckfromfrontto rear.Thefrontof the deck
shouldbebetween1A-inchand3A-inchlowerthantherearof thedeck.
Adjustif necessaryasfollows:
1. Withthe tractorparkedon a firm,levelsurface,placetheleverfor
liftingtheplatformon the secondtothe top notch(secondhighest
position)androtatethebladeas closeto thedischargechannel
thatisparallelto the tractor.

2. Measurethedistancefromthefrontof thebladetip to the ground
andthe rearofthe bladetip to theground.Thefirstmeasure-
menttakenshouldbe between1A"and3A"lessthanthe second
measurement.Determinethe approximatedistancenecessaryfor
properadjustmentandproceed,ifnecessary,tothe nextstep.
3. Locatethe flangelocknut onthefrontsideof thestabilizer
bracket.SeeFig.14.
• Tightenthe flangelocknutto raisethefrontofthedeck;
• Loosentheflange locknuttolowerthe frontofthe deck.

Side to Side
Ifthecuttingdeckappearsto be mowingunevenly,a sideto side
adjustmentcanbeperformed.Adjustifnecessaryasfollows:
1. Withthetractorparkedona firm, levelsurface,placethe decklift
leverin thesecondfromthe top notch(secondhighestposition)
and rotatebothbladessothat theyare perpendicularwiththe
tractor.
2. Measurethedistancefromtheoutsideof theleft bladetip to the
groundandthedistancefromthe outsideof therightbladetip to
theground.Bothmeasurementstakenshouldbeequal.Ifthey're
not, proceedto thenextstep.
3. Loosen,butdo NOTremove,the hexcap screwonthe leftdeck
hangerbracket.SeeFig. 15.
4. Balancethedeckby usinga wrenchtoturn theadjustmentgear
(foundimmediatelybehindthehexcapscrewjust loosened)
clockwise/uporcounterclockwise/down.Thedeckisproperly
balancedwhenbothbladetip measurementstakenearlierare
equal.
5. Retightenthe hexcapscrewon the leftdeckhangerbracketwhen
properadjustmentisachieved.
