Fuel Filter Air Cleaner
Gasolineand itsvaporsareextremelyflammableandexplosive.Fire
orexplosioncancausesevereburnsor death.
• Keepgasolineawayfromsparks,openflames,pilotlights,heat,
andotherignitionsources.
• Checkfuellines,tank,cap,andfittingsfrequentlyforcracksor
leaks.Replaceif necessary.
• Beforereplacingthe fuelfilter,drainthe fueltankas perthe
instructionsbelow.
• Do notdrainfuel whentheengineishot.Allowthe engine
adequatetimetocool. Drainfuel intoan approvedcontainer
outdoors,awayfromopenflame.
• Drainanylargevolumeof fuelfromthe tankbydisconnectingthe
fuellinefromthe in-linefuelfilterneartheengine.
• Removethe fuellinefromthe In-lineside (sidetowardsthefuel
tank)of thefuelfilter.
• Replacementpartsmustbethe sameand installedin the same
positionastheoriginalparts.
• Iffuel spills,waituntil itevaporatesbeforestartingengine.
• Beforereplacingthe fuelfilter,drainthe fueltank. Otherwisefuel
canleakout andcausea fireor explosion.
ToDrainthe fuel:
1. Locatethefuelfilter,whichisroutedonthe leftsideoftheengine
betweenthefueltankandthe carburetor,andmaybeattachedto
theenginewitha tiestrap.Cutthetie strap,ifpresent,then pinch
thein-lineclamponthefuelfilterwitha pairofpliers,slidethe
clampupthefuelline.Pullthefuellinefreefromthefilterandplace
theopenendofthe lineintoanapprovedcontainertodrainthefuel.
Tochangethe fuel filter:
1. Usepliersto squeezethetabsontheotherclamp(theout-line
sideofthe fuel filter),thenslidethe clampawayfromthe fuelfilter.
Twistandpullthefuellineoff of the fuelfilter.SeeFigure10.
2. Checkthe fuellinesfor cracksor leaks.Replaceif necessary.
3. Replacethe fuel filterwithan originalequipmentreplacement
filter.Call1-800-4-MY-HOME®to purchasetheoriginalequip-
mentreplacementfilter.
4. Securethe fuellineswiththe clamps.
Iffilters,or coversare notinstalledcorrectlyseriousinjuryordeath
couldresultfrombackfire.Donotattemptto startthe enginewith
themremoved.
Donotuse pressurizedairor solventsto cleantheair cleaner
cartridge.
1. Removethe airfiltercover.
2. To removetheairfilter,lifttheendof thefilter.SeeFigure11.

3. Removethe pre-cleanerfromthe filter.
4. To loosendebris,gentlytapthefilteron a hardsurface.If thefilter
isexcessivelydirty,replacewitha newfilter.
5. Washthe pre-cleanerinliquiddetergentandwater.Allowitto
thoroughlyair dry.Donot oilthe pre-cleaner.
6. Assemblethe drypre-cleanerto thefilter.
7. Installthe filterintotheenginebaseand pushdown untilthe filter
snapsin place.
8. Installthe cover.
