Parking Brake Adjustment
Neverattemptto adjustthebrakeswhiletheengineisrunning.Always
disengagePTO(bladeengagelever),moveshiftleverintoneutral
position,stopengineandremovekeytopreventunintendedstarting.
If thetractordoesnotcometo acompletestopwhenthe brakepedal
iscompletelydepressed,or if the tractor'srearwheelscanrollwiththe
parkingbrakeapplied,thebrakeisin needof adjustment.Contactthe
nearest SearsService Centerto haveyourbrakesproperlyadjusted.

CUTTING DECK REMOVAL
To remove the cutting deck, proceed as follows:
1. Placethe PTO(Blade Engage)leverin thedisengaged(OFF)
positionandengagethe parkingbrake.
2. Lowerthe deck bymovingthe deck lift lever intothe bottom
notchon therightfender.
3. Removetheself-tappingscrew(A) thatsecuresthebelt-keeper
rodfromaroundthetractor'sPTOpulley,thenremovethe belt
keeperrod(B). SeeFig. 16.
NOTE: Makea mentalnotewhatholetheotherendof the belt-keeper
rodisinsertedinforreinstallationpurposes.
4. Removethebelt (C)fromaroundthetractor'sPTOpulley.See
Fig.16.

5. Lookingat thecuttingdeckfromtheleftside of thetractor,locate
thebow-tiepinthat securesthedecksupportrodonthe rearleft
sideofthe deck.SeeFig. 17.Removethebow-tiepinthatsecures
thedecksupportrod,andcarefullyremovethedecksupportfrom
thedecklift arm.

7. Movethe decklift leverintothe topnotchon the rightfenderto
raisethedecklift armsupandout of the way.
Avoidpinchinginjuries.Neverplaceyourfingersontheidlerspringor
betweenthebeltanda pulleywhile removingthe belt.
