Checkingthe EngineOil
Onlyusehighqualitydetergentoilratedwith APIserviceclassificationSF,SG,
SH,orSJ.Selecttheoil'sSAEviscositygradeaccordingto theexpectedoperating
temperature.Followthechartbelow.Althoughmulti-viscosityoils(5W20,10W30,
etc.)improvestartingin coldweather,theywill resultinincreasedoilconsumption
whenusedabove32°I.Checkyourengineoillevelmorefrequentlytoavoidpossible
enginedamagefromrunninglowonoil.

Tochecktheengineoil,proceedasfollows:
Ensurethatthetractorisona levelsurface.
Cleantheoilfill areaofanydebris.
8. Removethedipstick,seeFigure10,andwipewith acleancloth.
9. Reinsertdipstickandpresscompletelydown.
10. Removethedipstickandchecktheoillevel.Itshouldbeat theFullmarkon
thedipstick.

11. If low,addoil slowlyintotheengineoilfill. Donotoverfill.Afteraddingoil,
waitoneminuteandthenrechecktheoillevel.
Donotoverfill. Overfilling with oil maycausethe engineto notstart, hard
starting, orenginesmoking.Ifoverthe FULLmarkonthe dipstick,drain oil
to reduceoil levelto FULLmarkondipstick.
12. Replacedipstick,andtighten.
Changingthe EngineOiland Filter
If the enginehasbeenrecentlyrun,the engine,muffler andsurrounding
metal surfaceswillbehot andcancauseburnsto theskin, Exercisecaution
toavoidburns,
NOTE:Theoilfilter shouldbechangedat everyoilchangeinterval.
Theengineoilshouldbechangedin thefirst5hoursandthenevery50hoursor
onceaseason.Tochangetheengineoil,proceedasfollows:
1. Runtheengineforafew minutestoallowtheoilinthecrankcaseto warm
up.Warmoilwill flow morefreelyandcarryawaymoreof theengine
sedimentwhichmayhavesettledatthe bottomofthecrankcase.Usecareto
avoidburnsfromhotoil.
2. Openthetractor'shoodandlocatetheoildrainportontherightsideofthe
engine.SeeFigure11.
3. Disconnectsparkplugwireandkeepit awayfromsparkplug.
4. Removetheoil fill cap/dipstkkfromtheoilfill tube.SeeFigure10.
5. Turnthesteeringwheelallthewaytotheright to betterexposethedrain
plug.
6. Sujeteel manguitodedrenajedeaceite(empaquetadaconestemanual)en
el puertodedrenajecomosemuestraenlaFigure10.Coloqueelextremo
opuestodelmanguitoenunredpientederecolecd6ndeaceiteadecuado
conunacapaddaddenomenosde64oz.

Removeoildrainpluganddraintheoil.
Removetheoil drainsleeveandstoreinasafelocationfor lateruse.
Replacetheoildrainplug.
Removetheoil filter,seeFigure11,and disposeof it properly.
Partiallyfill thenewoilfilter approximately3/4ofthewayfull with clean,
freshoil.Beforeyouinstallthenew oilfilter, lightly lubricatethe oilfilter
gasketwith someof theoilbysimplydippingyourfingerintheoiland
runningitaroundthegasket.
