Creosote:
Thechimneyorventingsystemmustbeinspectedregularly
during the heating season to determine if a creosote
build-up has occurred. If a signicant layer of creosote
hasaccumulated(3mmormore),itshouldberemovedto
reducetheriskofachimneyre.
Removing Ashes:
Thefrequencyofwhichyouwillneedtoemptytheashpan
will vary depending on the conditions that the stove has
beenoperatingin.Forexample:Astoveburningcornonhigh
continuouslywillprobablyneedtheashesremovedevery1
to2days,whereasastoveburningcornonloworcycling
offperiodicallymaybeabletogo3to8daysorlonger.With
pellets,afterabout1ton.
Itisrecommendedthatthestoveiscoldandshutdownwhen
removingtheashpan.
1.Pulluponthelatchhandletoswingtheashpanaccess
dooroutandtotheright.
2.Usetheashpanhandletocarryanddisposeofashes.
3.Slidetheashpanbackintothestove.
4.Closeandlatchtheashpanaccessdoor.
Ashes should be placed in a metal container with a
tight tting lid. The closed container of ashes should
be placed on a noncombustible oor or on the ground,
well away from all combustible materials, pending nal
disposal. If ashes are disposed of by burial in soil or
otherwise locally dispersed, they should be retained in
the closed container until all cinders have thoroughly
cooled.
Cleaning:
If you have been burning corn, the stove will need to be
cleanedapproximatelyonceamonth.Theamountofcorn
burned and the frequency of these cleanings will vary
dependingonthequalityofthecornused.
Ifyouhavebeenburningpellets,thestovewillneedtobe
cleanedapproximatelyevery2to3months.Theamountof
pelletsburnedandthefrequencyofthesecleaningswillvary
dependingonthequalityofthepelletsused.
1. Shutdownthestoveanddisconnect the power cordto
insurethatallmotorsarestopped.
2.Cleantheheatexchangerwiththescraperasshownin
Fig.30.
3.Brushorscrapetheinsidewallsofthestovetoremove
yash.
4.Removetheburnpotforcleaningby:
• Liftupandremovethefrontplatelock&frontplate.
• Removetheaugerextension(ifinstalled).
• Removetheburnpotgrate.
• Cleanallnesanddebris.
• Reinstallinreverseorder.
