2. ALTERNATOR/TIMING BELT
a. REMOVAL
Remove the following parts.
- Engine cover (P. 4-2)
- Alternator cover (P. 7-2)
- Electric part cover (P. 18-19)
1) Turn the alternator rotor counterclockwise to bring the
No.1 cylinder piston to the top dead center of its
compression stroke (P. 3-10).
Be sure to turn the alternator rotor in the direction shown
with the arrow. Never turn it in the opposite direction.
NOTICE
4) Set the special tool to the engine hanger mounting part.
Install the two 8 x 18 mm flange bolts (engine hanger
mounting bolts) securely and secure the special tool.
• Check that the special tool is set on the ring gear securely.

2) Remove the two 8 x 18 mm flange bolts, and remove the
engine hanger.
3) Remove the timing belt tensioner cap from the timing belt
tensioner.
