Removing a slim optical drive
CAUTION: All removable media should be taken out of a drive before removing the drive from the
computer.
1. Prepare the computer for disassembly (Preparation for disassembly on page 23)
2. Remove the access panel (
Access panel on page 24)
3. Remove the front bezel (
Front bezel on page 25)
4. Disconnect the power cable and data cable from the back of the optical drive.
CAUTION: When removing the cables, pull the tab or connector instead of the cable itself to avoid
damaging the cable.
5. Push the green release latch on the right rear side of the drive toward the center of the drive (1) and
push the rear of the drive forward to unlock it (2), and then slide the drive out of the drive bay (3).
Installing a slim optical drive
1. Prepare the computer for disassembly (Preparation for disassembly on page 23)
2. Remove the access panel (

3. Remove the front bezel (
Front bezel on page 25). If you are installing a drive in a bay covered by a bezel
blank, remove the bezel blank. See
Optical drive bezel blank on page 26 for more information.
