Step 2 Determine whether an active/standby switchover is required.
Determine the active/standby status of the MM910 to be replaced based on the ACT indicator
and record the MM910 IP address.
The ACT indicates the active/standby status of the MM910.
l Steady green: The MM910 is in active state.
If the MM910 to be replaced is in active state, run the smmset -d failover -v 1 command
on the MM910 CLI to change it to standby state. For details, see the MM910
Management Module V100R001 Command Reference. If the switchover fails, contact
Huawei technical support engineers.
l Off: The MM910 is in standby state.
If the MM910 to be replaced is in standby state, you do not need to perform the
switchover.
If the MM910 software version is (U54) 6.96 or later and the fan speed is automatically adjusted,
the fan speed is in frozen mode and cannot decrease within two minutes after the active/standby
switchover is performed. The fan speed may increase temporarily, and restores normal operation
after the active/standby switchover is complete.
Step 3 Remove the MM910.
1. Remove the cables from the MM910.
2. Use a Phillips screwdriver to loosen the M3 captive screw on the MM910. See (1) in
Figure 6-3.
