3.1 Chassis Overview
The S5700 series Ethernet switches integrate the access and transmission functions to provide
reliable access/aggregation and high-quality transmission of services on enterprise networks.
The switches are built on an integrated hardware platform, and the hardware system consists
of the chassis, power module, fan module, extended cards, and Switch Control Unit (SCU).
The S5700 series are available in a variety of models for you to choose based on your network
requirements.
The S5700 series include the S5700-LI, S5700S-LI, S5700-LI-BAT, S5710-LI, S5700-SI,
S5720-SI, S5720S-SI, S5700-EI, S5710-EI, S5720-EI, S5700-HI, S5710-HI, and S5720-HI
subseries. The S5700-LI, S5700S-LI, S5700-LI-BAT, and S5710-LI switches are Layer 2
switches, and all the other models in this series are Layer 3 switches.
