If one of these topologies is suitable for the hardware and application in your
business setup, complete the cabling connections as shown in the illustrations. If
you have a setup other than the ones shown in these examples, use these examples
as a starting point for creating your specific topology.
Note: In storage enclosures that are connected to a dual-controller storage
subsystem, you must install the optional second ESM to support dual redundant
drive paths.
One single-controller DS3500 and one or more storage enclosures:
To cable one single-controller DS3500 to one or more single-ESM storage
enclosures, connect them as shown in Figure 39.

drive paths, and must use one of the dual-controller topologies that are described
in this section.
