The position of the write-protect switch on the tape cartridge determines when you can write to the tape.
When the switch is set to the left in the SAVE position 1, data cannot be written to or read from the
tape (data is saved).
When the switch is set to the right in the REC (Record) position 2, data can be written to and read
from the tape.
