» If air bubbles are visible:
– Repeat the entire procedure until air bubbles are no
longer visible.
– Mount protection cap on the diagnostics connector.

18.4 Checking the gear oil level

The gear oil level must be checked when the engine is cold.
Preparatory work
– Stand the motorcycle upright on a horizontal surface.

Main work
– Detach the foot brake lever spring.

Remove screw for checking gear oil level

– Check the gear oil level.
A small quantity of gear oil must run out of the drilled
hole.
» If no gear oil runs out:
– Add gear oil. ( p. 145)
– Mount and tighten the gear oil monitoring screw.

M6 10 Nm (7.4 lbf ft)
– Attach the foot brake lever spring.
18.5 Changing the gear oil
Warning
Danger of scalding Engine and gear oil get very hot when the motorcycle is ridden.
– Wear suitable protective clothing and safety gloves.
– In the event of scalding, rinse the area affected immediately with lukewarm water.

Environmental hazard Hazardous substances cause environmental damage.
– Dispose of oils, grease, filters, fuel, cleaning agents, brake fluid, etc., correctly and in compliance with
the applicable regulations.
