MAINTENANCE WORK ON FRAME AND ENGINE 87
Info
The spring preload defines the initial situation of the spring process on the shock absorber.
The spring preload setting is optimal when it is set for the weight of the rider and that of any baggage and a passenger, and thus
ensures a compromise between maneuverability and stability.
Before changing the spring preload, make a note of the present setting, e.g., by measuring the length of the spring.
Take the weight off the rear wheel and swingarm.
Info
The spring preload can be adjusted correctly only if the rear wheel and the
swingarm are fully relieved of weight.
