•Donotclearthesecuritychip.Ifyoudo,thefunctionsassignedtothekeyswillbeerased.
•Donotdisablethesecuritychip.Ifyoudo,ClientSecuritySolutionwillnotwork.
3.Ifthesecuritychipisremovedorreplaced,oranewonehasbeenadded,thecomputerwillnotstart.

4.Ifthesecuritychipisinactiveordisabled,theClearSecurityChipoptionwillnotbedisplayed.
5.Whenyouclearthesecuritychip,besuretoturnyourcomputeroffandthenturnitonagainafteryou
setthesecuritychiptoActive.Otherwise,theClearSecurityChipoptionisnotdisplayed.
TosetanitemontheSecurityChipsubmenu,dothefollowing:
1.Printtheseinstructions.
2.Saveallopenles,andexitallprograms.
3.Turnyourcomputeroffandthenturnitonagain.
4.Whenthelogoscreenisdisplayed,pressF1.TheThinkPadSetupprogrammainmenuopens.
5.Usingthecursorkeys,movetoSecurity.TheSecuritymenuopens.
6.Usingthecursorkeys,movetoSecurityChip,andpressEnter.TheSecurityChipsubmenuopens.
7.Usingthecursorkeys,movetoanitemyouwanttoset.Whentheitemishighlighted,pressEnter.
8.Setotheritemsthatyouwanttoset.
9.PressF10tosavechangesandexit.
10.PressEnterintheSetupConrmationwindowtoconrmtheexit.
Tosetthesecuritychip,youhavetostartClientSecuritySolution,andfollowtheinstructionsonthescreen.

computer,someofwhichmightbesensitive,isstoredonaharddiskdriveorsolid-statedrive.Beforeyou
disposeof,sell,orhandoveryourcomputer,besuretodeletedatastoredonit.

•Movethedatatotherecyclebin,andthenclickEmptyrecyclebin.

•Usingtherecoveryprogram,providedbyLenovo,bringtheharddiskdriveorsolid-statedrivebackto
thefactorydefaultsettings.
