YoucanusetheSetupUtilityprogramtoviewandchangethecongurationsettingsofyourcomputer,

regardlessofwhichoperatingsystemyouareusing.However,theoperatingsystemsettingsmightoverride

anysimilarsettingsintheSetupUtilityprogram.

StartingtheSetupUtilityprogram

ThissectionprovidesinstructionsonhowtostarttheSetupUtilityprogram.

TostarttheSetupUtilityprogram,dothefollowing:

1.Makesureyourcomputeristurnedoff.

2.RepeatedlypressandreleasetheF1keywhenturningonthecomputer.Whenyouhearmultiplebeeps

orseealogoscreen,releasetheF1key.TheSetupUtilityprogramopens.

Note:Ifapasswordhasbeenset,theSetupUtilityprogrammenuwillnotbedisplayeduntilyoutype

TheSetupUtilityprogrammightstartautomaticallywhenthePOSTdetectsthathardwarehasbeenremoved

ornewhardwarehasbeeninstalledinyourcomputer.

tasksaredisplayedatthebottomofeachscreen.

Usingpasswords

ByusingtheSetupUtilityprogram,youcansetapasswordtopreventunauthorizedaccesstoyourcomputer

anddata.Thefollowingoptionsareavailabletohelpyousetanadministratorpasswordorauserpassword:

•SetAdministratorPassword

•SetUserPassword

Youdonothavetosetapasswordtouseyourcomputer.However,usingapasswordimprovescomputing
