Thischapterprovidesinformationtohelpyoufurtherconfigurethecomputer:
InstallingtheWindows10operatingsystem
Insomesituations,youmightneedtoinstallanewoperatingsystem.Thistopicprovidesinstructions
onhowtoinstallaWindows10operatingsystem.
Beforeyoustart,printtheseinstructions.
Attention:Theprocessofinstallinganewoperatingsystemdeletesallthedataonyourinternalstorage
drive,includingthedatathatwerestoredinahiddenfolder.
ToinstalltheWindows10operatingsystem,dothefollowing:
1.Connectthedrivethatcontainstheoperatingsysteminstallationprogramtothecomputer.
2.StarttheThinkPadSetupprogram.See“UsingtheThinkPadSetupprogram”onpage60.
3.SelectStartup➙BoottodisplaytheBootPriorityOrdersubmenu.
4.Selectthedrivethatcontainstheoperatingsysteminstallationprogram,forexample,USBHDD.
ThenpressEsc.
5.SelectRestartandensurethatOSOptimizedDefaultsisenabled.ThenpressF10tosavethesettings
andexittheThinkPadSetupprogram.
6.Followtheon-screeninstructionstoinstallthedevicedriversandnecessaryprograms.See“Installing
devicedrivers”onpage59.
7.Afterinstallingthedevicedrivers,applyWindowsUpdatetogetthelatestmodules,forexamplethe
securitypatches.
8.Dependingonyourpreference,installLenovoprograms.
Note:Afterinstallingtheoperatingsystem,donotchangetheinitialUEFI/LegacyBootsettinginthe
ThinkPadSetupprogram.Otherwise,theoperatingsystemwillnotstartcorrectly.
