Even if the front compartment system is in
aut
omatic mode, the rear compartment sys-
tem can exit automatic mode if you adjust the
blower on the rear compartment menu.

If the air is cooled and the driver's, front
passeng
er or sliding door is opened, the rear
air conditioning system blower will be turned
down aer around 15 minutes.
When all doors have been closed again, the
blower will be reset to the previous setting
aer around one minute.
Information on the air distribution settings
The symbols on the display indicate the vents

hrough which the air is being directed.

Setting the air distribution
Requirements:
R
The climat
e control system is switched on.
#
Press the _ butt
on repeatedly until the
desired air distribution appears in the air con-
ditioning system display.
Switching the synchronization function on/o
Requirements:
R
The climat
e control system has been switched
on (/ page 101).
The synchronization function controls the climate
control function centrally. The settings for the tem-
perature and airow in the front zone are automati-
cally adopted for the rear zone.

Press the 0 butt
on.

If the rear passenger compartment climate
contr
ol has been switched o, you can switch
it on automatically by pressing the 0 but-
ton.
Defrosting the windows
Windows fogged up on the inside
#
Vehicles with a heating system: pr
ess the
¬ button.
When windshield defrosting is switched on, the
temperature and airow cannot be adjusted.

Close the front air vents (/ pag
e 104).
#
Vehicles with TEMPMATIC or THERMOTRONIC:
pr
ess the ¿ button and, if necessary, use
the _ button to direct the air onto the
windshield ¯.
#
Increase the airo
w as necessary and close
the front air vents (/ page 104).
#
If the windows remain fogged up: press
t
he ¬ button.
When windshield defrosting is switched on, the
temperature and airow cannot be adjusted.
¬ or no symbol will appear on the climate
control system display.

Vehicles with a windshield heater: pr
ess
the Î button.
Depending on operation, you can achieve faster
defr
osting and drying of the windshield with the
following settings:
R
Use the _ button to direct air onto the
windshield ¯.
R
Set the temperature w and the airow
K to maximum using the rocker switches.
R
Close the front air vents (/ page 104).
R
Switch on the windshield heater Î
(/ page 104).
R
Switch o the rear-compartment climate con-
trol /(/ page 102).
R
For vehicles with heating systems: set the air
distribution so that LEDs O and ¬ are
o (/ page 99).
Windows fogged up on the outside

Switch on the windshield wipers (/ pag
e 94).
Switching air-recirculation mode on/o
#
Press the h butt
on.
The interior air will be recirculated.
