Changing a wheel
Notes on selecting, installing and replacing tires
You can ask for information regarding permitted
wheel/tir
e combinations at a qualied specialist
workshop.

If wheels and tires of the wrong size are used,
the service brakes or wheel suspension com-
ponents may be damaged.

Always replace wheels and tires with
ones t
hat fulll the specications of the
original part.
For wheels, pay attention to the following:

Permissible wheel load
R
Wheel oset
For tires, pay attention to the following:

Designation
R
Manufacturer
R
Type
R
Load-bearing index
R
Speed rating
&

y through exceeding
the specied tire load-bearing capacity or
the permissible speed rating
Exceeding the specied tire load rating or the
permissible speed rating may lead to tire dam-
age and to the tires bursting.

Therefore, only use tire types and sizes
appr
oved for your vehicle model.

Observe the tire load rating and speed
rating required for your vehicle.

For safety reasons, only use tires, wheels and
accessor
y parts which have been specially
approved by Mercedes-Benz for your vehicle.
These tires have been specially adapted for use
with driving systems and driving safety sys-
tems, such as ABS or ESP
®
.
Otherwise, certain properties, such as han-
dling c
haracteristics, vehicle noise emissions
and consumption could be adversely aected.
Other wheel sizes may cause the tires to come
into contact with the vehicle body and axle
components when under load. This may result
in damage to the tire or the vehicle.

Only use tires, wheels and accessory

ts that have been checked and rec-
ommended by Mercedes-Benz.

Retreaded tires are not checked or recommen-
ded b
y Mercedes-Benz, as previous damage is
not always detected during the retread proc-
ess.
Driving safety cannot, therefore, be guaran-
teed.

Do not use used tires when their previ-
ous usage is unknown.

Vehicles with tire pressure monitoring system:

Do not place any installation tools in the

Only have tires replaced at a q

Accessories that are not approved for your vehicle

y Mercedes-Benz, or are not being used correctly,
can impair operating safety.
Before purchasing and using non-approved acces-
sories, visit a qualied specialist workshop and
inquire about:

suitability
R
legal stipulations
R
factory recommendations
Observe the following points when selecting,
installing and replacing tires:

Use only tires and wheels of the same type,
design (winter tires, all-season tires) and make.
R
Only install wheels of the same size and tread
design on one axle (le and right).
