al to dispose of them with the household
rubbish.

Take discharged batteries to a qualied
specialist workshop or to a collection
point for used batteries.
Consult a q
ualied specialist workshop to connect
the battery.
Observe the safety notes and protective measures
when handling batteries.
Risk of explosion
Fire, open ames and smoking ar
e pro-
hibited when handling the battery.
Avoid creating sparks.
Electrolyte or battery acid is corrosive.
A
void contact with the skin, eyes and
clothing. Wear suitable protective
clothing, in particular gloves, an apron
and a safety mask. Immediately rinse
electrolyte acid splashes o with clean
water. If necessary, seek medical
advice.
Wear eye protection.
Keep children at a safe distance.
Observe these Operating Instructions.
If you do not use the vehicle for a long period or

Connect the battery to a charger recommen-
ded for Mercedes-Benz

Consult a qualied specialist workshop to dis-
connect the battery
Starting assistance and charging the starter bat-
t
ery

Always use the jump-start connection in the
engine com
partment for starting assistance
and when charging the battery.

NOTE Damage to the battery from over-
voltage
When charging using a battery charger without
a maximum c
harging voltage, the battery or the
on-board electronics may be damaged.

Only use battery chargers with a maxi-
mum c
harging voltage of 14.8 V.

WARNING Risk of explosion due to the
ignition of hydrogen gas
If there is a short circuit or sparks are created,
there is a danger of hydrogen gas igniting when
you charge the battery.

Make sure that the POSITIVE terminal of
a connect
ed battery does not come into
contact with vehicle parts.
#
Never place metal objects or tools on a
batt
ery.
#
When connecting and disconnecting the
battery, always observe the sequence of
battery terminals described.
#
During starting assistance, always take
car
e to connect only battery terminals of
identical polarity.
#
During starting assistance, observe the
seq
uence described for connecting and
disconnecting the jumper cables.
