Operation Chart - 1.7 MI
STARTING
PROCEDURE
AFTER
STARTING
WHILE
UNDERWAY
STOPPING AND
SHUT DOWN
Turn on and run engine
compartment bilge
blower, if equipped, for
five minutes.
Observe all gauges and
warning lights to check
condition of engine. If not
normal, stop engine.
Frequently observe all
gauges and indicator
lights to monitor engine
condition.
Shift remote control lever
to neutral position.
Check for leaks - fuel, oil,
water, fluid, and so on.
Check for fuel, oil, water,
fluid, exhaust leaks, and
so on.
Run engine at idle speed
several minutes to allow
the turbocharger and
engine to cool.
Check that mechanical
engine-stop lever is not
engaged.
Check shift and throttle
control operation.
Engage the STOP
switch and hold, until
engine completely
stops.
Prime fuel injection
system, if necessary.
Turn key switch to OFF
position.
Pre-lubricate
turbocharger and
engine, if necessary.
Turn battery switch OFF,
if equipped.
Turn key switch to RUN
and check that lights and
indicator lamps come on.
Flush seawater cooling
circuit, if operating in
saltwater area.
Check that charge
indicator and oil pressure
indicator lamps cease
AFTER engine starts.
Warm-up engine at a fast
idle rpm for several
minutes.
Open engine hatch. Air
out bilge completely.
Turn battery switch ON,
if equipped.
Open seacock, if
equipped.
Open fuel shut-off valve,
if so equipped.
Check steering
operation.
Turn the key switch to
START, after the indicator
lamp for glow plug preheat
ceases, or after five
seconds with a wait to start
glow plug system. Release
the key when the engine
starts.
Close fuel shut off valve,
if so equipped.
Close seacock, if
equipped.
