4. To install the air door, turn the blower housing upside
down.
5. Hold the air door in place while sliding in the rod.
NOTE: Make sure the rod goes through all of the rod
channels. See Figure 4.37.
Temperature compensating auto choke
Some engines are equipped with a temperature com-
pensating auto choke.The autochokes function the same
as described in the previous sections, however a tempera-
ture compensator is installed on the muffler. As the muffler
heats up, a bi-metallic coil inside will expand. The expand-
ing coil will rotate a lever towards the muffler, pulling on a
rod. This rod will override the autochoke, holding the
choke open on hot restarts.
To remove/replace the temperature compensator:
1. Remove the shroud.
2. Remove the two screws that hold the compensator to
the muffler using a 10 mm wrench. See Figure 4.38.
3. Unhook the compensator from the choke rod.
4. Install the compensator by following the previous
steps in reverse order.
