Governor cup and the governor gear
1. Remove the engine from the unit.
2. Remove the sump by following the steps described
in Chapter 10: Disassembly.
3. Remove the two screws that hold the governor gear
plate to the sump using a 10mm wrench. See Figure
4.65.
NOTE: Some models only have one screw. On the
single screw models, Inspect the plate for
any deformity, discard if any is found.
4. Slide the gear shaft out of the gear and cup. See
Figure 4.66.
5. Install by following the above steps in reverse
order.
NOTE: Check the governor arm for freedom of
movement before test running the engine.
6. Test run the engine and adjust the top no load
engine RPMs by following the steps described in
“Disassembly and rebuilding the carburetor” section
of this chapter.
