CCD color camera UC 50

Field Update Mode
The UC50's CCD sensor is read out using the "Interlaced" read out method. This
means that, in the live-image, the PC constantly receives new half images (called
"fields") and composes them into a complete image (called "frame").
In Field Update Mode, a new frame is already created when one new field has been
read out. This means that every frame only contains 50 % new image information.
However the number of images per second is doubled. Among other things, this
makes navigation on the sample more comfortable.
When using binning 2x or binning 6x, the Field Update Mode is not active. With
binning 6x, a new frame is only composed when two new fields have been read
out. With binning 2x, the whole image is read out in one go.
Therefore, the frame rate is relatively lower with binning 2x and 6x, but each frame
contains 100 % new image information.
Different settings for
live-image and image
acquisition are
possible
In the Olympus or Olympus Soft Imaging Solutions software, you can set different
resolutions for the live-image and for the image acquisition. For the UC50's live-
image, the Binning 2x setting is usually the most suitable setting. For the image
acquisition, the highest resolution available is usually the most suitable setting.
1.3 Operating and storage conditions
Please operate and store your camera under the following conditions:
The recommended ambient temperature during camera operation is + 10°C to
+ 25°C. The maximum permissible range for the ambient temperature during
camera operation is + 5°C to + 40°C.
The maximum permissible relative humidity during camera operation is 80 %
(condensation free).
When the camera is stored or transported, the ambient temperature must be
kept between - 25°C and + 70 °C.
