vehicles with « LS » device
SPECIFIC PARTICULARITIES
The Vespa endowed by request with separate lubrication of the engine,
LS » device, are equipped with two separated tanks: one for petrol (gasoline) tank
capacity 8 I. (2.11 U. S. gals; 1.76 imp gals) included reserve of about 2.1 I. (0.55 U. S.
gals; 0.46 imp. gals) and the other one for oil 1.6 I. (0.42 U. S. gals; 0.35 imp. gals)
included reserve of about 0.45 I.(0.12 U. S. gals; 0.099 imp. Gals).
Notice - Before using the vehicle check that the tanks « A petrol (gasoline) A and « B oil - (fig. 27)
are filled up.
Take care that the oil inlet pipe (« T » fig. 28) from oil tank to the device (« LS » .) is
completely full; if air bubbles are present, take off the pipe « 0 » from the device « LS »,
flow down same oil so that the above bubbles are eliminated, then reconnect the pipe.
Don't fill up the tank for petrol (gasoline) with petrol- oil mixture but with pure petrol (gas)
normal type used for cars (see fig. 27 « A ». The oil tank (fig. 27 « B ») should be filled up
with ESSO 2 - T MOTOR OIL 40.
The petrol (gasoline) is conveyed to the carburettor by means of the normal gravity
system; the oil is conveyed in the suction pipe by means of a ,« LS » device (« M », fig.
28) composed of a piston pump with variable stroke, controlled by the crankshaft through
a gear transmission. The oil tank is provided with a transparent cup (« S », fig. 29)
normally full of oil, for checking air bubbles that will appear when oil lowers to reserve
value (It. 0.45; 0.12 U. S. gals; 0.099 imp. gals).
