WATER PUMP SERVICE
Removal
1. Remove four screws

and Water Pump Cover

2. Remove Water Pump Impeller

NOTE
Water pump impeller has left hand threads.
3. Remove Water Pump Seal
r
using special tool
2872105–A. The water pump seal shell
t
will remain
in the engine and will need to be removed. Carefully
pry around the outer edge of the seal body with a pick
or small flat-blade screw driver.. Do not damage the
mating surface. Continue prying around the outer
circumference until the seal body is removed from the
bore.
NOTE
Mechanical seal shown disassembled using special
tool. New seal is one-piece.
4. An oil seal
y
is located behind the mechanical seal
bore. This seal should be replaced when replacing
the mechanical seal.
5. Use a small pick to puncture the seal and pull it out of
the bore.
6. Install a new oil seal with the seal lips towards the
balance shaft.
7. Press seal into bore until it is flush with the case
surface
