BRAKE BLEEDING / FLUID CHANGE
NOTE
When bleeding brakes or replacing fluid always start
with the furthest caliper from the master cylinder.
WARNING
Always wear safety glasses.
CAUTION
Brake fluid will damage finished surfaces. Do not allow
brake fluid to come in contact with finished surfaces.
This procedure should be used to change fluid or bleed
brakes during regular maintenance.
1. Clean master cylinder reservoir cover thoroughly.
2. Remove cover from reservoir.
3. If changing fluid, remove old fluid from reservoir with
a clean MityVac pump or similar tool.

4. Add brake fluid to MAX level of reservoir.

5. Install a box end wrench on caliper bleeder screw of
right rear caliper. Attach a clean, clear hose to
bleeder screw and place the other end in a clean
container. Be sure hose fits tightly on fitting.
6. Have an assistant slowly pump foot pedal until
pressure builds and hold light pressure on the pedal.
7. Open bleeder screw about 1/4 turn. Close bleeder
screw and release foot pedal pressure.
NOTE
Do not release foot pedal before bleeder screw is tight
or air may be drawn into the system.
8. Repeat Step 6 and 7 until clean fluid appears in
bleeder hose and all air has been purged. Add fluid
as necessary to maintain level in reservoir.
CAUTION
Maintain at least 1/2"(1.27 cm) of brake fluid in the
reservoir to prevent air from entering the master
cylinder.
9. Tighten bleeder screw and torque to specification,
and remove bleeder hose.

47 in-lb (5 Nm)
10. Move hose and container to left rear caliper. Repeat
Steps 4-9 for left rear and both front calipers.
11. Add brake fluid to MAX level inside reservoir

reservoir.
12. Install master cylinder reservoir cover.
13. Field test machine at low speed before putting into
service. Check for proper braking action and pedal
reserve. With pedal firmly applied, pedal reserve
should be no less than 1/2" (1.3 cm).
14. Check brake system for fluid leaks.
