Mode Select Dial
The mode select dial lets you select one of several different effects. Turn the dial to
select the effect you want. The indicator and name are displayed for approximately
three seconds, and then only the indicator appears.

Mode Indicator Uses
LOCK _ AUTO Places camcorder in full auto mode. CINEMA, FADER,
LOCK FOCUS, EXPOSURE, DISPLAY, TITLE, and ALAN.W.BAL
will not operate in this mode.
RELEASE _]AUTO Use this mode for normal recording.
RELEASE
FG FG:FOG Use to create a white misty look, as when using an
external fog filter. Softens the image.
ND ND:ND Use to create a black misty look, as when using a neutral
EFFECT density filter. Reduces glare on the subject.
Use to record in sepia (brownish red) and record the
[] [] SEPIA vintage look of old movies. Use with CINEMA mode to
create an authentic movie theater look. See page 35.

Use to record a scene at dusk, twilight, or fireworks with a
more natural and dramatic look. Auto gain is turned off,
focus locks in infinity, and white balance is set to
outdoors.
Use when playing back recording on a VCR featuring
special effects, such as pause or slow motion. Uses high
shutter speeds to clearly capture fast-moving action with
less blurring.
Sets shutter speed to 1/2000. Use to record fast-moving
action with less blurring. Can capture faster action than
sports mode. Use outdoors and in well-lit situations when
playing back recording on VCR featuring special effects,
such as pause or slow motion.

TIMER
Use to delay the start of a recording lbr 15 seconds. Press
the thumb trigger. @ 15S appears. Tally light flashes with
flashing increasing approximately five seconds before
recording starts. Tally light lights when recording starts.
